I’m excited to share the latest news after disembarking from Norwegian GETAWAY’s relaunch cruise along with 24x7cruise’s travel partners. 

To our delight, everything was very smooth, right from the rapid check-in at Civitavecchia port to the superbly planned activities onboard.

Norwegian’s perfectly executed ‘Sail Safe’ measures certainly instilled confidence in all the guests. 

Before boarding, guests took a quick COVID-19 antigen test at the terminal, which was administered and paid for by NCL. In addition, they had to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with an authorized vaccine at least 2 weeks before embarking. I must add that all crew complied with the same guidelines.

As Getaway sailed from Rome to Palma De Mallorca and back, we followed local government regulations which require guests to wear masks indoors except when actively eating or drinking or when in their staterooms. Guests had to wear masks outdoors only when social distancing was not possible. 

Getaway is as amazing as she was when I sailed on her inaugural voyage six years ago! 

All the 20 restaurants, 22 bars and lounges, dazzling Casino, Spa, and Fitness Center functioned perfectly on this voyage. Norwegian treated each guest to at least two Specialty dining experiences; my favorites were the Brazilian Churrascaria, Le Bistro, and Teppanyaki (with a juggling plus singing performance by the chef). Among the complimentary dining choices, O’Sheehan’s Irish Bar and grill and Shanghai noodle bar were wildly popular. The special ‘Taste of Spain and Portugal’ in the Garden Café was a nice touch, and guests loved the exotic selection in the Ice-cream bar.

We were thrilled by the sizzling ‘Burn the Floor’ and ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ theater shows as well as the music & comedy shows in the ‘Illusionarium’ and the performances in various bars and clubs. 

For active guests, the Ropes climbing course, super-fast waterslides, and the three-story Sports complex were definitely among the highlights! Reservations ensured that social distancing was maintained.

In the Spanish island of Palma de Mallorca, NCL offered a selection of interesting shore excursions as well as a complimentary coach service to the nearest town.

Since all good things come to an end, we had to get ready to disembark in Civitavecchia. To comply with Italian rules, NCL provided complimentary Antigen tests for all guests on the final days of this cruise. PCR tests were available too if required by your destination country; as a further measure of NCL’S dedication to making their guests’ travel easy and stress-free.

Finally, the cruise staff arranged comfortable coaches to drop guests off at both Rome’s airports.
